I have spent the majority of my career leading various not for profit organizations and have experienced first hand that volunteers are the glue that holds a community together. Below are a few of the community projects that I have been privledged to be a part of.

St. Claire of Sacramento

St. Claire of Sacramento

Portrait for Wellspring Women's Center. The organization was looking to memorialize the co- founder of the organization when she passed away. I used several pictures to compose her likeness then did the portrait with water color, colored pencil and digital painting. The portrait was then printed on a wood panel with a photo of Sister Claire and her favorite saying to hang in the lobby of the organization.

RFDC is an after school program for children, focused on education and extra curricular activities. As part of Sacramento Metro Chambers Project Inspire, the center was given a grant to update the grounds around the center. My contribution was a Archway/Gate leading to the garden - The arch is made of rebar, the double swinging gate is decorated with mosaic shovels and birds.

To dress up the front of the building I created signs that feature healthy foods and have the RCFB motto... "because no one should be hungry"

River City Food Bank

River City Food Bank

After a devastating fire destroyed the Food Bank building in downtown Sacramento, the community came together to help them relocate and build a new facility to help the hungry in our community. I worked with other community volunteers to help make the Food Bank an inviting place for staff and clients.

Mosaic Mural Food Bank

Mosaic Mural Food Bank

Every year RCFB does a fundraiser called "empty bowls" when I was asked to design a mural for the front of the building I kept with that theme. Volunteers and RCFB staff helped to smash bowls leftover from past events and then helped to install the mural next to the front doors of the building.

The Memory Project is a unique initiative in which artists create portraits for children and teens around the world who have been neglected, orphaned, or disadvantaged. Given that kids in such situations tend to have few personal keepsakes, the initiative aims to provide them with special memories that capture a piece of their childhood - portable pieces of their personal history. As much as possible, we also want to help the kids see themselves as works of art.
